Mexico in North America is known for the sombreros, the tequila and the ancient cultures of the Aztecs and the Mayans. The north of Mexico is dominated by desert, there is a mountain area in the middle and rainforest in the south. But Mexico also has a beautiful Caribbean coastline where you can find beautiful beaches, especially the Yucatán peninsula. Mexico City is the capital. It's one of the oldest and largest cities in the world, with parks, Aztec ruins, colonial architecture, museums and an extensive nightlife. The official language in Mexico is Spanish. This is the native language of around 90% of the population and is understood by 97% of the population.
