TRIP TO PRAGUE

19/2/2019

Picture
ME Travel - What has become of Prague from the past? Those who visited the city before 1989 can now hardly recognize the grey capital from the Communist period.
In a few years the ochre grey walls have been restored and colourful facades have been replaced, much to the surprise of many Prague residents, who did not know at all that these were the original colours. The old centre has been completely renovated. Prague is an absolute tourist attraction and a real international economic centre. But Prague may be a modern and dynamic city these days, the enchanting and nostalgic Prague of the past has not completely disappeared ...
Below my 5 Instagram pictures of my trip to Prague.

1. Old Town Square

The overcrowded Old Town Square from Prague in Czechia with the tower of the Old Townhall and the Týn Church from 14th century.
In the wall of the tower of the Old Townhall you can discover a miedeval astronomical clock. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still operating.

2. Malá Strana

View of Malá Strana, or 'Little side' as my guide told, from one of the terraces of the Castle Complex which rises above the city.
The beautifully preserved neighborhood has hardly changed since the middle of the 18th century.

3. Charles Bridge

Probably the most photographed bridge from Prague, but it's also a beauty.
The Charles Bridge connects the Old Town with the Malá Strana district. Until 1841, the bridge was the most important connection between the Old Town and the Prague Castle, where the Bohemian kings and other leaders stayed. Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the beginning of the 15th century.
Repairs are scheduled later this year, and should take around 20 years.

4. Mostecká

Look at these houses guys! Aren't they pretty?
Right after crossing the old Charles Bridge coming from the Old Town of Prague and passing the gate under the tower at the end of the bridge, you immediately see the beautiful baroque and rococo houses in the Malá Strana district. At the end of this famous street 'Mostecká' you can see the church of Saint Nicholas, one of the most visited churches in Prague.

5. Tram

My favourite kind of transportation in the city. If I can choose between a tram or a underground I always would choose for the tram. You see so much more from the city.
I took this picture at the Malostranské Náměstí, the main square of Prague's district Malá Strana. This district is bye the way my favourite place in the city.
